wanderlust

I have a friend who continuously posts pictures of all the exciting things she’s doing. She moved somewhere new, is working fun hippie jobs, and is spending her free time going hiking and mountain biking.

I should be doing that. I’m not going to be in my early twenties for forever. I’m going to get older. I’m going to be expected to do things. After I get my doctoral degree, I will have every inch of my life scheduled. I’ll be doing something I love… but when am I ever going to have enough free time to go explore the world like I always wanted? I don’t want to wait for retirement. Can I go back in time? Can I just take a few years off and be goofy and carefree and live in a studio apartment and spend all my time outdoors? Circle the globe? Live in new places? Learn about cultures other than my own?

Sigh.

Can I?
